Micro Center just released a statement yesterday apologizing for “inappropriate and offensive” messages on its email list. The company was apparently sending out e-mails that were intended for its gaming customers, but inadvertently added messages that were meant for customers who purchased other products. The e-mails included messages stating that AMD Radeon graphics cards were inferior to Nvidia GPUs, and that the company sells “no AMD products.”
Last week, Micro Center, a software and hardware retailer, lashed out at AMD Radeon graphics cards in their official blog post. Claiming that the company “cannot support an AMD Radeon graphics card”, they came under fire for being unprofessional and downright ignorant. Micro Center is a company I have had a great deal of respect for over the years, so when they published this article, I decided to take them to task.
After buying a new AMD Radeon graphics card, Micro Center was quick to send me a return authorization, but also very slow to accept the return. After waiting days and days, I finally gave them the green light, only to find out that the store had shipped me a replacement used product.

Micro Center recently posted tips on buying graphics cards on their official storefront, which has raised many questions within the AMD Radeon community. According to a remote report from an electronics store, AMD Radeon graphics cards aren’t as cheap as NVIDIA options because they require modifications or regular maintenance to work properly and lack key technologies like ray tracing, unlike GeForce GPUs, which work similarly to game consoles and are basically plug-and-play. Micro Center CEO Rick Merchad has since apologized and pointed out that AMD graphics cards offer the best performance, including ray tracing and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (AMD FSR) for maximum visual performance, as well as an easy installation that requires no maintenance beyond standard driver updates. Merchad also said that Micro Center is a proud partner of AMD.
Therefore, Microcenter officially takes the position: Do not buy a Radeon GPU. Buy Nvidia only.

AMD graphics cards are generally less expensive, but may require some modification or regular maintenance to perform as expected. NVIDIA graphics cards, on the other hand, work like game consoles and operate on a plug-and-play basis. The ease of use and stability of NVIDIA GPUs have made them the choice of gamers and streamers alike. NVIDIA cards also support ray tracing and DLSS, which work together to give gamers the best possible graphics quality without sacrificing frame rate.
