We have set up a new website for Star Citizen. It is located at https://www.star-citizen.com/ where you can watch the weekly Star Citizen news (and even contribute if you like).
If you’re not already familiar with Star Citizen, it’s a space sim MMO-game where players can take control of a spaceship and travel to different planets in a procedurally generated galaxy. It has been in development for a number of years, and at the time of writing has a huge community of fans who eagerly follow its progress.
It’s time to bring you another weekly update on what’s happening in the world of Star Citizen! And the biggest news this week is… well, almost everything! There’s so much going on, it’s almost hard to keep track of it all! We’ve got our first look at the new MISC Razor at last, with concept art being shown off at Gamescom, along with the name, the initial concept art, the new name, and the name of the company that will be making it. We’ve also got news that the new X-37B mini-shuttle will be announced soon, along with the news that the MISC Sidewinder is also in development. XenoThreat, I’ve got some Star Citizen news for you. Coming to a close, sneak peaks, ISC summary with a slew of ship updates, and SCLive discussing some development adjustments, all for the week ending September 5th.
Defend Against the XenoThreat Before It Ends! Weekly Update: Defend Against the XenoThreat Before It Ends!
Keep the battle going! On Tuesday, September 7, the XenoThreat troops will be leaving the Stanton System, so give them hell on their way out.
So it’s been confirmed that XenoThreat Remastered will stop on that day, and that the combat ship sale will also expire on that date.
Star Citizen has received a patch and server maintenance to address certain problems with servers not always progressing to the XenoThreat fleet combat phase.
Phase 2 of the Ship Showdown begins next week, on the 8th! Before the bracket voting starts, submit your unique designs and make some noise for your favorite ship… Because it is the most popular, it will be included in the 16 ships competing.
This week’s Sneak Peek was of a new gunsight that we’ll be using in the future.
This week’s ISC was mostly focused on ships.
The Drake Vulture is now at the greybox stage, with the inside being fleshed out… We’ll see it next year, along with salvage from ships.
The Ares has progressed from the greybox stage to the phase art stage.
For 3.15, the Sabre will be Gold Standard, and we may see more of it at CitizenCon.
The redeemer is nearing completion and is a capable four-crew gunship that we will see shortly!
Volt has released a number of new FPS weaponry, including an SMG, LMG, and Sniper.
Exploring POIs will be made more dangerous with the addition of laser tripmines.
Cousin Crows Customization Ships and the Crusader Show Room are arriving to Orison in Alpha 3.15, although they will have additional functionality after that.
We also have Cybernetic Arm and Leg Replacement Concepts.
SCLive
They’re working together more closely than ever on Squadron and Star Citizen, with a particular emphasis on SQ42 and key features shared by both games.
Squadron 42 is nearly considered a major mission in Star Citizen, although it does not need the use of the Dynamic Universe Simulation or full server meshing.
Various features and deliverables have been gathered and combined. Instead of concentrating only on SQ, the actor feature team will now concentrate on fundamental features for both games. This kind of technology will be introduced to SQ42 first, then tested before being released to the PU. This will not replace Evocati or PTU testing, but it will provide some context and a real-world case to check with a feature before moving forward.
It seems that features will be pushed into SQ42 more quickly, and that they will be working on it, but that they will take longer to reach PU than in the past.
In the future, smaller features such as pushable trolleys will compensate for bigger ones.
As the smaller pieces are put together, we will witness portions of the death of a spaceman and the actor status survival mechanisms come together in the future.
The Roadmap will vary in the future, although development pace will most likely stay the same. However, features will be shifted about as priorities shift.
In the near future, we’ll see detailed dives into Inventory and Healing.
Radar and scanning are now included as an FPS feature.
EVAing will consume fuel, and the tractor tool will be critical in assisting in traversal.
When you die in the future, you will lose your existing inventory… You may be able to return and pick it up… on occasion.
Innerthought, Interaction, and HUDs are all receiving major improvements, including context for what you’re wearing, the area and ship you’re on, and the lockers you’re accessing, among other things.
We’ll have to wait and see what future changes to development and the plan may bring. In the future, I may conduct a more in-depth analysis of this SCLive… with more context to what was stated.
The Monthly Reports have been released, and you can see them in their entirety on my YouTube channel. For Alpha 3.15 and beyond, there were many changes to the Gen12 Renderer, Ships, and Features. My Squadron 42 Report should also be available this weekend.
That concludes this week’s news.
The 5th of September 2021, a Thursday. A day in which a number of things happened. The second, and perhaps most significant, was that Spectrum covered the release of the new Game Update 1.1.0 Falcon-9. The third was that Spectrum covered the second edition of the CitizenCon, and the fourth was that the new Star Citizen science ship, the Prospect, was released and reviewed on Spectrum. Here is a quick rundown on what was new:. Read more about star citizen news and let us know what you think.
