Jack is back and ready to carve Aka and his followers into samurai Jack: Stroke in time: A short and cute adventure game for Nintendo Switch.
The apocalyptic and futuristic Aku Jack is probably one of the most suitable places to customize video games. That’s why I was aboard the hype when the Adult Swim Games announced their release last year. For the most part, the game takes much of what makes cartoons popular, from visual effects as close to animation as possible, to the original voice dress of the actors as they play their legendary samurai-like characters. I can say that the developers have put a lot of love into this project, but it could stay in the oven a little longer to spice up the final product and hold the legendary Samurai Jack’s jacket with dignity.
The Battle of Time begins with a scene from the end of the series that takes Jack away from his fate in the battle with Aku and sends him to the Time Pocket, where he must survive the greatest battles of his time in the future to return to his battle with Aku. If you didn’t see the original series until the end, I don’t recommend this game because it doesn’t really explain who those characters are or how they got there. And while Jack fights most of his famous battles, it doesn’t replace the incredible cartoon that was broadcast on Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.
All actors with original voices in the series bring in their vocal talents, as well as some 2D animation videos of the animation itself. Unfortunately, these characters have no meaningful interaction with Jack throughout the game. The scenes you visit are based on the locations in the series. You’ll find characters like the Scotsman and Sir Rothschild giving you useful advice or more than just small things. With all the battles that Jack and Scotland have fought together, I had hoped that there would be some team moments scattered throughout the game, but that never happened.
Fortunately, the battle through time is as entertaining as watching Jack cut the dice and throw aku-robot henchmen. Jack can use many short- and long-range weapons, from his gullible magic sword and samurai fists to machine guns and weapons torn from giant beetles, everything looks unique and keeps the hack ‘n’ cut beat for about ten hours to beat the main story.
Each weapon has a power meter and will break if used repeatedly, like the Legend of Zelda:. Wilderness breathing weapon system. Fortunately Jack’s fists and the magic sword are inviolable, so I trusted those two to get me out of a difficult situation.
Each level is based on the place Jack visited in the cartoon. Fortunately, there isn’t much user interface on the screen, and what there is disappears even when you’re standing still, so it almost feels like you’re seeing scenes ripped out of the show. All places have different light platforms, but for the most part, each area is filled with monsters working their way through. To be honest he started repeating himself a bit, but because he was a big fan of the show, it was still great to be Jack.
Jack has a lot of options at his disposal, which you can open by collecting various items and bullets from defeated enemies and opening treasure chests. There are many different options to unlock, but many of them will only be available to you if you win the main story and repeat some of the levels to find all the hidden secret items. This slightly increases the repeat value because it encourages players to strike again at the end of the game.
Each level ends with a boss battle that fans of the series will surely recognize, and even the original new character does his best to ensure that Jack never reaches Aku. Boss fights have never been super hard (although I played for normal difficulty), but the endless waves of enemies before some boss fights exhausted my healing articles. They can only be filled in at the da Samurai shop, and rarely just before the bosses fight. Needless to say, that’s what I died for.
Speaking of the Samurai Shop: Jack can also retrieve his weapon when it is about to be forced, and even increase his capacity with the right amount of coins. You can also buy weapons you wouldn’t otherwise find, like a machine gun.
The soundtrack of the game is, as in the show, minimalistic with the rhythms of the sami guitar and the Japanese taiko drums. She created the atmosphere of the game which, like the cartoon, is inspired by Kurosawa’s classic samurai films.
Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is a fun experience for about eight hours I spent with him. She does a good job of finding out what makes Jack’s story so popular, even after all these years. The gameplay can be a bit repetitive and the interaction with a large support team doesn’t make much sense, so I wonder why they’re even included in the game. Much more could be done in this area to fill the game with content. Still, if you’re a fan of the show, you can be sure to enjoy the game for what it is: a good old Hack ‘n Slash Samurai fields.

Final remarks : GOOD PLACES
If you’re a fan of the legendary cartoon series, you’ll surely find the pleasure of editing the Aku robot army as Samurai Jack. But don’t expect any more of that name.
Tony’s been playing since he could walk. Pokémon Blue Version helped him learn to read. His greatest achievement is not only playing the Kingdom Hearts series as a whole, but also understanding it.
