If you are unable to participate in a party hosted by someone on your friends list, you will receive an error code 91 from Fortnite. You can only get rid of this error code a little bit, because the problem is not on your side at all. This is usually due to the fact that the Fortnite servers are under a lot of load (this error occurs quite randomly in the evening) and there is literally nothing you can do (except shut down Fortnite) to reduce the load on these servers. With the Fortnite 91 error code, you will see one of the two messages below:
- Currently, the party does not respond to membership applications. Try again later.
- The services of the parties are currently experiencing technical difficulties.
As mentioned above, with the second message you can only wait until the party services have been restored. I know it sounds crazy, but that’s what I’ve been doing for the past few months. Every time I get this error, I just call my phone and check the instagram channels and other things with a white letter 1 in the red box. The mistake doesn’t last very long, so I always manage to wait.
The Fortnite 91 error code is assigned when a party service is unavailable, so the main problem is the same regardless of which platform the error occurs on. It does not seem that error 91 means that one on Xbox One and another on PS4.
To make sure everything is in order on your side, here are the things you can do to return to Fortnite after the holiday services have been turned back on.
Reboot Fortnite to correct the error code 91
I know this may sound crazy for those who run Fortnite from their hard drive, but a reboot will probably erase some of your caches, and it can fix any errors (not just code 91) you encounter. You can reboot your computer or console to see if everything is okay (but nowadays this is too common a tip to include in a manual). You can even ask your friends to restart their equipment to make sure everything is perfect in your team.

Transition to private party
Can’t you join a public party? Switch to private mode and see if everything is okay. It’s one of the security measures that worked for me and my crew. Every time we get error code 91, I change the party type to private (because I’m always the first one to invite friends into the game), and it just works. But that doesn’t mean it will work 100%, so you can do something else here.

Since the Fortnite server is down and you can’t really enter the data center and try to bypass the cables around the server, it’s best to wait until the error code in Fortnite 91 itself has been corrected. Find out if you are the only one who has experienced this problem by checking the latest updates on Fortnite’s official website regarding game interruptions. If it’s up to you, try one of the solutions above, but if it happens to the whole Fortnite community, there’s nothing you can do about it.
