What seems like an eternity has never been revealed to a previously released Nintendo game, making today’s revelation even more amazing! Koei Tecmo and Nintendo have once again joined forces to destroy the Zelda franchise, with hundreds of enemies at once. The Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a brand new interaction that takes place 100 years before Breath of the Wild. During the game we learned about the Great Misfortune and how Ganon and his followers overcame Hyrule and plunged him into darkness. Now you can take part in these battles and see how things develop. The Zelda team worked closely with the developers to ensure that the story and characters matched the original material.
Of course, good news comes with bad news. Aonuma has announced that the sequel to Breath of the Wild is still in development, and we will not see an update at this time. With the release of Age of Calamity on the 20th… November 2020, we won’t be surprised if the main suite doesn’t appear before the next holiday or maybe even in the spring of 2022. Of course, that’s just a guess, and Nintendo hasn’t confirmed it anyway, but it’s hard to believe that they’ve released two new Zelda games on Switch that are really close together, so be prepared to wait!
