In Mendoza, I noticed a particular detail in the artistic design: an abundance of oxidized copper. All the ramps, the statues, part of the floor, are made of this famous ephemeral building material. The first thought that came to my mind was that of Don Yates, who is either very short-sighted or very far-sighted. Here are the leads I dug up on this project:

Don Yates is very nearsighted: He designed his estate with copper as his favorite color. He ignored all protests from people who can think about the future and warned him about the oxidation process. It’s about Don Yates. He’s invincible. His copper doesn’t oxidize. These people are cowards, too afraid to use brass; to do what needs to be done. According to the sommelier, Don Yates is too short-sighted to see the value of keeping Grandpa Paladin’s wine. Why should we believe that he is able to plan the future and maintain the world of Providence? That’s why it fits Constant so well: because he’s just as stubborn and a symbol of the doomed providence we’ve already seen.
Don Yates has very ambitious plans: He designed his estate with green as his favorite color. He wants his property to look like the Statue of Liberty. He realizes it will take time. Of course, he could make it with pre-oxidized copper, but he wants to do it right. This is part of the message of architecture. He’s been building his whole life. He is the architect of the future. He understands that acting prudently is the true path to his pure vision of the future. He understands the value of planting seeds he will never see (quote from the art exhibition in Dubai). That’s why he’s the best choice for Ernest.
Oxidation is symbolic of the hour of the game: Regardless of which of the two versions of Don Yates is the real one, the fact remains that we are in an intermediate stage. A time of change. Transition from old to new. Providence’s reign was as glorious and magnificent as a copper fortress, but Parasite 47 denigrates its vision and its future. You must choose a new material that is more resistant to change, as Arthur Edwards wishes. Or they must bow to the inevitable influences of time and external factors. However powerful Providence may be, it cannot control the inevitable.
