The final result
Here, if you’re interested.
So I went to the drainage tunnel the first time and tried to sneak in, but was quickly found. I didn’t pay extra (but I did all the configurations, even the ones I didn’t use) except for the suppressors. It was fun going back and forth to pick up the files and steal the bike to get to where my sub was waiting for me, with only the files and a few special items hidden in the office.
The second time, I found a guard’s uniform on the track and a truck on the main dock. So I let the night in, took out a couple of guards, changed clothes, turned off the control tower and power, and opened a couple of airlocks near the field. I snuck into the woods, not knowing how good the cover was or if it would hold me until I got to the truck. I got to the truck and got in without a problem. Once inside, there were a few slips on my part that almost cost me my life, and the occasional attacks stopped, but the return was much quicker.
This time I also bought a helicopter in case there was a descent, so I had a blanket while I was pedaling. I went the opposite direction from the vault I found the first time, but I needed a key, so I had to hide and kill a few guards to find one (a silent shotgun at night during a storm is pretty cool). So far I’ve only had to kill 4 guards (well, 2 actually, the other 2 just took too long to get away from the power station and the control tower) and only one in the complex. A few tries later, I found this on one of the two guys I had the hardest time killing without being noticed (it turns out you can just watch them from the side at night and blow them up). This shows why it’s best to leave the second looting until the end, when you sneak in.
The return to the vault was easy, and soon the pink diamond was mine (I’ve since learned that the next time I got lucky with a necklace, I was lucky, I guess). Then I decided to go to the office, because there was no one there to watch me hack the elevator. A quick and safe attack, and the return to get away as fast as possible. The poor guard was standing next to my bike and I soon found myself in the dark, the disguise seemed to work quite well because even my explosion through the door with the mask on my head after I stepped out of the door didn’t seem to alarm anyone. I managed to reach the runway and almost hit the guard outside the hangar, took the transport and saw that the old white dot was now red, I had to make one more explosion and then I flew away in a plane, 1.5 million richer and no one knowing about it.
So, if you are reading all this or just coming to see how I get to the point, my real thoughts are as follows:
- The current loot is very nice, especially as a solo player whose friends don’t play regularly anymore, and I’m afraid to try to randomize the original loot. The ability to customize yourself along the way is very cool (although I feel like if I were playing solo, I’d die and leave the checkpoint if I snuck out).
- The settings themselves are quite fun, there’s enough variety to keep from repeating, and the offenses bite a little because there’s only one chance (and one of them is a little annoying because you can’t use guided projectiles on bad guys).
- The real killer here is the criticism of the mission, it’s extremely lame, almost to the point where I don’t really want to replay the heist. It’s boring and it takes way too long. I would give a lot to have this automaton do it for me, even if it only finds one of each gear. Or even if, after accessing the video surveillance, you could use the other cameras on the island to find other things that really matter, like the guard’s uniform and the truck, since those are the things that seem to be most important to decide how to approach.
The only reason I’m considering going a third time is to get a shotgun that I forgot about the second time, and will probably never use because I have two other shotguns that are much more useful. The money wouldn’t be so bad if the scope wasn’t zero, but I don’t need the money. If you want painless money, get a second account when the game is on sale (or a friend), make an afk capture playlist and get an easy million overnight or 2 almost 3 if you leave it up during the day too. The only downside is the time it takes to get the products you can get if you have an afk playlist or some other kind of joke in the game, and the fucking trap that is Mule Custom.
Some more thoughts on the update: The sub is good, the fact that it is controllable is a nice surprise. But as with all previous command vehicles, the integration with other things is terrible, why can’t I move my arcade control center here? The vehicles are fine, you can put in a submarine, including a new, much better submarine that is really useful. The other submarine sucks, but the submarines it replaced also suck, and this one sucks less than that one, and it doesn’t suck if you bought it so far (Fuck you Mule Custom). The helicopter is good, it’s functional, but it has a lot of annoyances once it’s in the 2nd position (even a super dubious grip on the sides like the Dodo would be nice). There are many other helicopters I could use (like the Shark helicopter named after the submarine, the hovering helicopter option, another stealth helicopter introduced in this update, the Tula or something) and it would be nice to be able to choose something. It would also be nice if you could keep the MK suppressor. II here. It would also be great if this update (like another one) was a little more integrated with the boat, like a submarine and a hatch underneath to open it and disembark (I love my boat, why won’t you let me do more?). While I haven’t had any major problems with this system since I avoided the public lobby, it seems like a mistake to leave it and stay on the surface to avoid diving. If you swear by it, it makes a cold surface when you approach it. It would be so helpful to tell him to stay hidden as much as possible when there is room below for a dive, and to come up only when you leave or approach by helicopter.
TL;DR The loot and scenery are pretty good, but ruined by the horrible, boring and long judging mission. Therefore, it’s not fun enough to do on your own (except for the first person who sees it and gets a free quickie for his sub). It’s also not fun and you don’t earn enough to make quick money. Fuck ass abuse.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
