Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by to see the latest news from the game world. Considering everything that happens in the United States, I am a few days behind in my regular report, for which I apologize, but we are not here to discuss it. We’re here to discuss video games!
For example, according to several industry analysts, Nintendo is expected to resell the PS5 and X/S Xbox series in 2021. It will not only outperform the latest generation of consoles, but it should be the best console of the year. There are rumours of a new pro version of the Nintendo Switch, and if that’s the case, it will only boost sales of Nintendo. Let’s face it, none of these companies are competing for money right now, and it’s nice to see someone else selling PS consoles right now because it’s just going to put pressure on them to raise the stakes and fight for first place!
There is no doubt that Nintendo has created a large small console and is in a sense in its own market, but due to the global pandemic both Sony and Microsoft are trying to produce enough consoles to meet the demand. 2021 will certainly be an interesting year for consoles and games.
Talk about the production of consoles: Sony has announced that it will cease production of all but one PS4 models in Japan, the Slim. PS4 is oversold in Japan and there is speculation that production figures are low, so the production reduction on PS4 should increase the number of PS5s available, right? Of course, there seems to be a decline in Playstation products in Japan, which could also play a role. If the analysts’ predictions are correct, by April there will be enough consoles for anyone who really wants one, so if you have waited, it should not take too long now.
In terms of other console news, here are some interesting facts about what preceded the development of Xbox. Before Microsoft introduced the Xbox console, they defeated several companies that already had in the industry. MS considered buying companies such as Electronic Arts, but EA refused thanks because the company was not for sale. Even more interestingly, Microsoft contacted Nintendo to see if they were considering a takeover. Ah, being a fly on the wall, huh? It turned out that Nintendo staff members laughed and seemed to laugh throughout the meeting. The idea really makes you wonder what it would be like if this deal went through. I think that if Microsoft or Sony were able to buy Nintendo, it would put an end to the console wars forever and finally create the most powerful game company in history and probably in the future. The possibilities of Mario and Link (Zelda series) seem endless!
Another thing that Microsoft has done and that I found very interesting is tearing down PS2. I never really thought about how a company like Microsoft got video games. I think they just hired people who already knew how to build a console, but it’s clearly not that simple. Former Microsoft managers involved in the early development of the Xbox spent some time dismantling it, analyzing everything right up to the last minute. Note what each element does for the unit and calculate the construction costs. It’s very interesting to hear how they modeled the Xbox. It is literally based on the PS2…. website. I think you can thank Sony for that.
Not much is happening right now, but when you’re ready, keep an eye on our media pages for my next PS5 service. Next Tuesday at 3.30 pm I will be live on PS4Experts on Facebook. Come and see Yearfall, we can discuss the game and anything else you can think of! Thanks for reading and as always, see you online!
