SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle of Bikini Bottom – Regicide offers a lot of fun, especially for hardcore Bikini Bottom fans.
The game is a remake of the original PS2 platform game from 2003, with improved gameplay and graphics for a better quality of life.
As if SpongeBob wasn’t fun enough, a small modding community has formed for this game, giving us even more ways to enjoy life under the underwater sun.
Here are some of the best mods I’ve seen so far.
10. Original font replicator
Select this mode
As with most remakes, fans of the original game will get value for their money. Because they can’t wait to have their favorite child back.
Much of their enjoyment of remakes is due to a sense of nostalgia.
And if you want to bring the game closer to the original, this mod will help you update the text.
This module replaces the fonts in Rehydrated so they look more like the original 2003 version of the game.
9. SpongeBob Ripped Pants Suit
Choose this mode
BFBB is far from the only SpongeBob game to be released, as Heavy Iron developed The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie in 2004.
As you could guess, this game is based on a movie that came out in the same year.
And SpongeBob’s ripped pants are one of the most memorable moments in the series. He appears in the SpongeBob Movie game but not in BFBB.
The next mod is really going to let us be the idiots who drop his pants.
8. Ryman
Select this mode
Rayman is another classic platformer that hasn’t seen a remake yet.
But that’s not a problem, because modder Cinini has found a way to make Rayman play Bikini Bottom.
This mod completely replaces SpongeBob SquarePants, allowing you to play as Rayman throughout the campaign.
7. Japanese Bandicoot

Crossovers are always fun.
And what better crossover experience than with one of our favorite platformers?
This time we can play as Crash Bandicoot, with custom animations!
I don’t know if the modder is Japanese or if he didn’t find a way to add an English sound for the skin, but the mod only contains Japanese rules for Crash.
6. Night in Bikini Bottom……
Select this mode
This next mod is a unique option if you are looking for a change of scenery.
And it’s very simple: Make a night of it in Bikini Bottom.
Other areas of the game are currently not covered, but the modder has indicated that he will eventually include the rest of the game world.
However, if you want a more comfortable aesthetic for the night, this mod is worth a try. The gameplay should be identical.
5. Doodlebob

There are a few funny SpongeBobs, and this is definitely one of the favorites.
The mod replaces the SpongeBob textures with a simple doodle version, matching the original Doodlebob from the second season of Frankendoodle.
The skin works in cutscenes and in horde mode. It’s really only a treat for true SB fans.
4. Mac

Speaking of original ideas, the next one is just as original.
Mac replaces SpongeBob SquarePants with a retro Macintosh computer that works like SpongeBob SquarePants.
No, I’m not kidding.
What makes this model even more interesting is that the computer’s face has different animations to convey emotions, making it look like something out of a Pixar movie.
3. Quickster Sponge

The next model makes it onto this list, simply because it’s one of my favorite SpongeBob images.
If you remember the series, SpongeBob has a superhero uniform called Quickster.
This mod doesn’t give us his superhuman speed, but it does allow you to play the entire game as SpongeBob in his Quickster.

2. MET on sponge

Here’s another fun crossover, this time with one of my favorites, Adventure Time!
I’m a big fan of Adventure Time and I couldn’t wait to try this product as soon as I saw it.
The change replaces SpongeBob SquarePants with a live portable game system from BMO.
Immediately after I found this mod, I searched the rest of the site for other Adventure Time skins, but this is the only one currently available.
To be honest, the BFBB modding community is pretty small. But hopefully we’ll see more Adventure Time mods in the future.

I don’t know why you would want to make a game like Battle For Bikini Bottom more realistic, but if you want realism, this might be the best mod you can get.
He replaces Sponge Bob with a real kitchen sponge.
Yes, you read that right.
The sponge even makes subtle movements when it speaks. I can’t imagine how much time this modder spent on this project, but this idea fits perfectly into the kind of comedy we’ve come to expect from SpongeBob.
