One of the most common complaints from players is that there isn’t a catalyst for a certain weapon. Players often want to use the weapon, but since the catalyst is nonexistent, they are incapable of doing so. This problem is much more common in the 3rd Birthday than in other games, since the game is almost over by the point that DLC is released. In the past two months, Square Enix has released 3 DLCs that each introduced a new weapon into the game. Each weapon was introduced with a catalyst that was released at the same time. In the same vein, there are a few weapons that are currently without catalysts. Here are some ideas for catalysts that could possibly be created for these weapons.
The catalyst is one of the newer items that have been added to the game, being introduced last year in Delsin’s “InFAMOUS: Second Son” DLC. However, the catalyst is a weapon that has become standard in almost every build for every character. ( At least in my experience, I’ve been playing in the competitive scene for a year and a half now.) Now, what if there was a character that didn’t have a catalyst? What if there was a character who had to be played with the flavor of that character always on your mind, and in the back of your mind you always had to be asking yourself “how can I use this character’s
There are a lot of cool exotics in the game that didn’t get a catalyst, and it really hinders their use in general builds (the Traveler’s Chosen not generating orbs was really irritating). I list below the weapons that do not have an accelerator and what an accelerator can do.
- Monte Carlo: This cannon is already awesome, so adding a catalyst might be hard to balance, but maybe it could increase the melee damage on the Markov chain stack.
- Tarrabah: Tarrabah’s biggest problem is that it penalizes weapon changes, allowing its catalyst, the Ravenous Beast, to function as a Weapon Master, activating whether the weapon is removed or not.
- Selected travelers: Personally, I think a fully automatic descent would make it great, but I’ve heard people ask for it to work with the CWL system, so it’s up to you.
- Divinity : very simple, give Divinity the 4th spot. Time charms him to extend his journal essentially indefinitely for damage phases.
- Crossbow: Just give it anti-barrier properties. That’s it.
- Jotunn: this is a very annoying weapon in PvP, so please no reduction in catalyst recharge time. Instead, give him Full-Court to make him more viable in PvP and for the rare cross-cards with him in PvP on Supers.
- Ohhh God, how does it not hurt to do that. Lament is already much better than almost everything else, so I don’t know what the catalyst can do. Maybe a rotating blade?
- Thunderlord: This weapon deserves a catalyst, it’s really fun to use. Chain Reaction could do a good job here.
- Queenbreaker: Honestly, I’ve never equipped this weapon, so tell me what you think it deserves.
- The truth: There are already flaws in PvP and gambit, but maybe adding cluster bombs would make it solid?
- Shaft distributor : The range of power sphere recovery increases when the weapon is disabled. This one seems a little more technical than the others, but you get the idea.
- Bastion: since Bastion is already going to undergo changes next season with the addition of the inherent unstoppable shots, maybe add an extra volley or increase the size of the magician?
- Wishender: a bit simple and uninspired, but anti-barrier grenades would be welcome. If not, increase the validity of the wall tips they provide.
- Thorn: If you have the Soul Devourer buffs, you can both heal yourself and increase your damage.
- The Monarch: A dragonfly, perhaps? It’s another weapon I’ve never used, so someone needs to explain it to me.
- The last word: Maybe increase the size of the magazine slightly, from 8 to 10 or 11. I’m not so sure about that.
- Two-tailed foxes: The TTF is already an exotic S-level missile, but it might be interesting to remove the suppression missile for a short period of time, like the Trekkanon or Tether. You can also add a third missile that does arc damage.
- Misconduct: yeaahhh…. This gun’s a little busted. Maybe the explosion should get one less shot?
- Cloudstrike: Extend the flash range or give it a Triple Tap / 4TTC.
- Xenophage: I know the Xeno is already a fantastic weapon, but the ground work would make it much more interesting to use. More fillings and reserves, yes, please.
- Death Eater: Increased projectile tracking speed. Currently, the little hollow balls he creates fall very slowly to the ground and onto targets. Increasing the speed can help.
- A handful of healing: Not much to say here, as Healing Grip is not meant to kill, but perhaps inherently overloading rounds if you freeze the champion with a charged Glacier.
- Devils Ruin: shorten the loading time or if you really want to make it fun, make it a blast like 1k votes.
- The Eyes of Tomorrow: This weapon doesn’t need a catalyst, but maybe an adaptive command needs one less kill to get it.
- Anarchy: A self-loading holster will make championship fights even easier in high-end pve. Yes, I know this gun is already crazy, but learn to live with it.
- A thousand and one voices: Either you need to increase the duration of the beam when you fire it, or you need to give it a much larger ammo supply. Seriously, it only holds 7 bullets?
- Escort: Outlaw. I know, it’s very original, but it would make headshots even more accurate, and it would make the game more viable in video games.
That’s it. All weapons in the game without a catalyst. I want to make it clear that I don’t think all of these options are 100% best for the weapon, and I know that some weapons just don’t need the catalyst (like Anarchy and Lamentation). I love the golden setting and the murder mystery. Not to mention making bullets. Feel free to share your thoughts on any of these topics.
