Resident Evil Village Crashes – Many Nvidia users complain about constant crashes of RE8 or Resident Evil Village. This guide will show you how to solve this problem on your PC.
Resident Evil Village (RE8) game freezes for Nvidia users – How to fix
One of the most anticipated AAA games of 2021, Resident Evil Village, is finally available on all major platforms. Since its announcement in 2020, gamers have been eagerly awaiting the game’s launch. The game has everything a Resident Evil fan would expect from a RE game.
But like all AAA games released this year, Resident Evil Village has its problems. Discussions about RE8 on Steam, Reddit and other forums have led to a variety of posts. Most of these posts are about bugs and errors that players are currently experiencing in the game. The game Resident Evil Village seems to crash for many users using Nvidia graphics cards. Yeah, I even see gamers with RTX 3070 and 3080 talking about it. This proves that it is definitely not related to the hardware.
I played the game myself on a GTX 1650 and didn’t notice any crashes or freezes while playing. With that in mind, here are some steps you can take to fix the problem.
Elimination of errors
Fortunately, there is a solution for Nvidia users that many players in the community say works. The patch comes from the username /MantusTobbogan :
Bug fix for Nvidia users!
Okay, I’ve written about this before but no one read it, but now I’ve helped two users solve crash problems with this suggestion by commenting on other posts. Just disable the in-game overlay in Geforce Experience ;
I don’t know why, but it makes some Nvidia users crash at startup.
Edit: Apparently the Steam overlay can also cause crashes, so disabling it may also solve the problem.
It’s a pretty simple solution if you ask me. Just disable the in-game overlay in the GeForce Experience application.
- Just do the GFE
- Go to settings
- Disable the IN-GAME OVERLAY function.
Apparently, this solved the problems of users trying to play Resident Evil Village on an Ultrawide screen. I recommend disabling any overlays you currently have enabled. Overlays from apps like Discord, Nvidia GeForce Experience, Steam, etc. are known to cause problems in games.
Also download the latest version of the Nvidia Game Ready Driver v466.27, it is specially optimized for Resident Evil Village, to prevent future crashes. You can download it from GeForce Experience or follow this link to download the driver manually.
